The inspiration for the first edition of this book, published in 1997, originated with a workshop held in the summer of 1995 at the Institute of Advanced Architectural Studies, University of York. Participants included colleagues from DEGW and representatives from leading corporations, property investors, and suppliers, from as far afield as Japan.
