Subject
Study Skills A Teaching Programme For Students in Schools And College
Description
The purpose of the questionnaire is to highlight those areas of study skills in which pupils lack confidence. Most pupils will know which aspects of their work could be improved.
As students move through the key stages, pressure on their time increases. For teachers to put effective support strategies into place, the strategies must have a clearly defined purpose. If a blanket approach to teaching study skills is used, pupils may feel they are practising previously mastered techniques and motivation will decrease. If an individual has a problem remembering French vocabulary, is constantly reprimanded for indecipherable handwriting or has little idea of how to structure an essay, self-interest will motivate them to work on these skills.
