The Continuum Guide to Successful Teaching in Higher Education

Description

This book was written as an introduction to instruction in higher educa- tion. The work, written as companion to The Psychology of Teaching an Learning: A Three-Step Approach (Martinez-Pons, 2001), concentrates on the roles instructors and students play in the teaching-learning effort in the college setting. It takes a three-phase approach to its subject, dividing the instructional process into three sequentially occurring sets of activities the instructor undertakes a) before engaging the student in the teaching-learning effort, b) as he or she and the student engage in the teaching-learning effort, and c) following engagement. For each phase, the book integrates work in the literature deemed tenable into one cohesive frame of reference for thinking about the instructional process at the college level.
